Red and Black Book
The Red and Black Book (RBB) is a 40-page publication that the University of Cincinnati Alumni Association buys from the Student Alumni Council. It is designed for first-year students navigating freshman year, prospective athletes, current students curious on what changes are being made to the university, and involved alumni. Each year at homecoming, RBB is passed out to many people with different backgrounds, all being linked by their love for UC.
Professional, Consistent, Balanced, Inviting
Concept
Revamping the publication was challenging, but the result blended core design principles with a professional touch, creating a visually captivating book. A minimalist approach, simple typefaces, and italics were key.
Reviewing past booklets revealed a vibrant theme of bright reds, colorful backgrounds, and script fonts. The goal was to retain the excitement while introducing cleaner lines and a better balance between text and images
